PLOT
The series is set in the near future where a deadly virus, known as the M34 virus, starts infecting humans and turns them into monstrous creatures. An organization called NOA becomes humanity's last line of defense, employing soldiers with nano-technology suits to combat the virus-infected monsters. The story follows a young NOA soldier named Yuji Tamiya who meets a girl named Ai, a part of the "i" project that uses the same nano-technology for medical purposes to find a cure for the virus. Together, they face the M34 virus and unravel the mysteries behind it. "Zaion: I Wish You Were Here" is a short series, having only four episodes, but it manages to pack in plenty of action and a compelling, albeit bleak, narrative that revolves around the struggle against a monstrous pandemic, and the lengths humanity will go to survive.
